Discover Authentic Zambian Safari Experiences

our story
Not merely as a visitor or transient observer — but as a child shaped by this landscape—the valley. The river, the dusty trails, the nighttime sounds of hippos, and the quiet understanding that here, nature isn’t simply something to watch; it’s a way of life you participate in.
Kabele Lagoon Camp was designed by Simon, who has over 10 years of working experience in the tourism sector. Growing up in the Luangwa Valley, surrounded by the same rivers, wildlife, and vast skies that draw tourists from around the world today. However, his journey into tourism and conservation didn’t begin at a lodge or during game drives—it started within the community that lives in harmony with this extraordinary environment.
The idea for Wildcrest Safaris didn’t stem from a business plan. It arose from an inherent sense of duty.
This area—the Luangwa Valley—shaped his childhood and offered him so much. His goal wasn’t to create something flashy or overly complex; rather, he sought to establish a camp that truly reflects what it’s like to grow up here in Luangwa.
Having been raised in this valley and later receiving educational support through Project Luangwa instilled within him a deep sense of responsibility. That assistance motivated him to pursue a career while ultimately reinvesting in the very community that has significantly influenced his life.
Through collaboration with the local community, we identified Kabele Lagoon as our founding property, which is part of this commitment. By setting up operations here, we are creating meaningful local jobs, supporting livelihoods, and contributing to educational initiatives such as school reading programs and sponsorship opportunities that empower young individuals to build strong foundations early on in their lives.
